{"id":95,"date":"2008-11-18T16:35:34","date_gmt":"2008-11-18T21:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cfchimp.com\/wordpress\/?p=95"},"modified":"2024-12-05T19:56:48","modified_gmt":"2024-12-06T00:56:48","slug":"whos-down-with-oppm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csimmons.dev\/blog\/2008\/11\/whos-down-with-oppm\/","title":{"rendered":"Who&#8217;s down with OPPM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have struggled for some time now with an expanding workload.\u00ac\u0086 I direct a lot of projects for a couple of different business entities.\u00ac\u0086 Since I have yet to find a way to disrupt the time space continuum and add more hours to the day I am ever searching for ways to stay focused and cram more into a 24 hour day.<\/p>\n<p>Enter the OPPM.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/csimmons.dev\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/oppm.jpg\"><img width=\"128\" height=\"193\" data-public-id=\"oppm\/oppm.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-post-95 wp-image-96\" title=\"one page project manager for it projects\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/ccsimmons\/images\/w_128,h_193,c_scale\/f_auto,q_auto\/v1\/oppm\/oppm.jpg?_i=AA\" alt=\"one page project manager for it projects\" data-format=\"jpg\" data-transformations=\"f_auto,q_auto\" data-version=\"1\" data-seo=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onepageprojectmanager.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">OPPM (One Page Project Manager)<\/a> is the most effective tool I have found yet for project tracking\/communication.\u00ac\u0086 The real genius of it is its simplicity.\u00ac\u0086 It literally is a one page document that can be easily interpreted by the boss, the project stakeholders, the managers, or just about anyone.\u00ac\u0086 All you need is about 2-5 minutes to explain it to them once.\u00ac\u0086 Where can I get more information you ask?<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.onepageprojectmanager.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">OPPM (One Page Project Manager)<\/a> website is a good start.<\/p>\n<p>Then buy the book and read it.\u00ac\u0086 The one I read is the one specifically geared for IT projects.\u00ac\u0086 It&#8217;s about 125 pages and you can read it (and more importantly digest it) over a weekend.\u00ac\u0086 Actually, once you read the first two chapters of the book you&#8217;ll be up and running.\u00ac\u0086 Although I recommend reading the whole thing to learn the finer points.\u00ac\u0086 I found the analysis of team member personalities very interesting (I&#8217;m the one with lots of unfinished books on the nightstand).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But dude&#8221;, you say.\u00ac\u0086 &#8220;I just dropped a wad of cash on MS Project.&#8221;\u00ac\u0086 Don&#8217;t fret my friend.\u00ac\u0086 You probably still need it to manage the nitty gritty.\u00ac\u0086 And don&#8217;t throw out your Outlook task lists.\u00ac\u0086 You can still use them.\u00ac\u0086 The OPPM is meant to augment standard project management tools and methods.\u00ac\u0086 The power of OPPM shines in meetings when people actually UNDERSTAND what is going on with the project without having to be a PMP.<\/p>\n<p>Get it.\u00ac\u0086 Use it.\u00ac\u0086 You will be glad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have struggled for some time now with an expanding workload.\u00ac\u0086 I direct a lot of projects for a couple of different business entities.\u00ac\u0086 Since I have yet to find a way to disrupt the time space continuum and add more hours to the day I am ever searching for ways to stay focused and &#8230;
